PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF DR. STEVE GALLON III
March 5, 2025
School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III hosted a successful 3rd Annual District 1 Field Day Competition on March 4, 2025, where 4th and 5th-grade students came together to compete in various athletic events. These events included a jump rope competition, sack race, hurdle race, 100-yard dash, and a tug-of-war competition. This year, each District 1 elementary school selected 10 students to represent their school in the competition.
Students, principals, teachers, staff, and community supporters came together to celebrate education, community, diversity, and sportsmanship in District 1 schools.
“The 3rd Annual District 1 Field Day provided an exciting and enjoyable experience for elementary school students throughout District 1 to compete in various athletic events,” said Dr. Steve Gallon III. “From tug-of-war to track races to sack races, the students, along with their school coaches, staff, and principals, demonstrated a positive spirit of teamwork, collaboration, and sportsmanship.”
“I am grateful to Olympic Gold Medalist Tee Tee Terry for spending time with students, offering words of encouragement, support, and inspiration as they prepared for their events. I am also deeply appreciative of every individual and partner who contributed to this event’s success.”
Lastly, he extended a heartfelt congratulations to the District 1 Field Day championship winners from Carol City Elementary School.
